Titanium Spinal Implant with Complex Geometry
Client: Medical Device Manufacturer — California, USA — 2025
The Challenge
A medical device company needed a titanium spinal implant with complex internal lattice structure for bone ingrowth. Traditional machining could not achieve the required geometry and MIM was the only viable solution.
Our Solution
Our engineering team developed a custom MIM process using Ti-6Al-4V powder. A specialized feedstock was formulated and a multi-cavity mold was designed to produce the complex lattice structure with tight tolerances.
Results
The MIM process achieved 98% density with excellent mechanical properties. Production costs were reduced by 60% compared to CNC machining. Lead time reduced from 8 weeks to 3 weeks. 50,000 units delivered annually.
